The Republican National Committee has come up with a new way to raise funds on the Internet. Working with the Boston-based company FreeCause, they've developed a toolbar for the Yahoo browser that lets users donate two or three cents to the committee each time they do an Internet search. The Republican National Committee on Thursday launched an innovative online tool that enables supporters to raise tiny amounts of money for the committee with each internet search query that they send through Yahoo's search engine. Yahoo pays FreeCause, an online marketer, a commission for each search performed through the toolbar's search box. FreeCause then splits that commission with the GOP. Read more.

Viewed as a win-win for both the committee and e-commerce sites, a new browser toolbar allows users to send two of three cents each time they conduct a Yahoo-based Web search through the toolbar. FreeCause, a Massachusetts-based company that created a version of the toolbar for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the breast cancer group, helped develop the application for the party. Read more.
