Chief Marketing Officer
A young, funded, and profitable Internet startup is looking for a dynamic and innovative marketing leader who will drive growth and revenue in an exciting marketplace. FreeCause.com, founded in mid-2006 by a group of MIT alumni, develops unique applications to unlock the value of affinity relationships, spanning non-profits, alumni associations, political campaigns and national sports teams. Imagine leading a marketing initiative that will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars for Breast Cancer, or engage millions of avid presidential nominee supporters!
Principal Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this person will be responsible for developing an overarching positioning strategy for the company and all of the marketing programs, branding and communications required to support that positioning, increase awareness and generate demand for our technology. Employing guerrilla and viral Internet marketing tactics, this individual will also be responsible for lead-generation initiatives necessary to generate high-level prospect and client interest in the full range of FreeCause technology. As part of the executive management team, this position will be involved in all business issues and marketing strategies relating to the operations of the company as well as the long term planning.
The successful candidate will be a fundamentally data-driven marketer, whose strongest passion is maximizing ROI from each campaign. The candidate should have a track record of success in driving consumer-based and B2B lead generation through guerrilla and viral marketing, as well as a knowledge of SEO.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience and includes base salary and stock options.
Location:
Boston, should also be flexible for relocation
The Candidate should have the following experience & expertise:
- Graduate of a top university, MBA or Masters-equivalent preferred but not required
- 5+ years in marketing and sales at a technology company, preferably experience at a startup company
- Developing effective positioning and messaging and generating awareness within the target market
- Directing consumer-based and B2B lead-generation through multiple channels, including webinars, blogs, online professional networks, white papers, etc., as appropriate
- Extremely analytical and quantitative
- Directing effective and differentiated branding via all channels including website content, marketing collateral and vertical industry focused offering packages and sales materials
- Exceptional copy writing skills
- Superior interpersonal and oral communications skills
- Proven expertise at creating viral marketing campaigns
- Leading a guerrilla marketing effort with a new product launch
- Talent for developing and implementing strategic marketing plans
- Experience in planning media, writing creative briefs, managing agencies and interfacing with internal resources
