Donald L. Cohn
Mr. Cohn established his business career in San Diego in 1961. From that time through 1979, he was active in the development of over 3,000 residential units both as a builder and investor. As founder of Dataquick Information Systems in 1980, he served as CEO and managed its growth to become the largest real estate information provider in the United States until its sale to Acxiom Corporation in 1995. Subsequently, he acted as founder and CEO of DTS Communications, until its sale to a New York Stock Exchange firm in 1997. Since that time, he has been an investor in other business ventures and continues to manage his real estate portfolio. Mr. Cohn resides in La Jolla, California, with his wife, Karen, and his son, Jonathan, and is active in the thoroughbred breeding & racing industry through his Ballena Vista Farm.
Charles R. Holland, General USAF (Ret.)
General Holland retired as Commander, Headquarters U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) in November 2003. Prior to his retirement, Gen. Holland was responsible for all special operations forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force, both active duty and reserve. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of Aerovironment, General Atomics, Protenex Technology Corporation and SELEX Sensors & Airborne Systems (US). In addition he serves as an advisor to Aerospace Integration Corp, a subsidiary of MTC Technologies, and Camber Corporation. Gen. Holland also serves as a consultant for numerous technology companies and is a senior military mentor for the US Department of Defense. Gen. Holland has a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy, an M.S. in Business Management from Troy State University (W. Germany) and an M.S. in Astronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Harvey White
Mr. White is chairman of (SHW)2 Enterprises, an independent business development and consulting firm which he established in June of 2004. Previously, Mr. White was chairman and CEO of Leap Wireless International, Inc. Prior to Leap Wireless, Mr. White was a co-founder and a member of the board of directors of QUALCOMM Inc. from its inception in July 1985. He was executive vice president and COO until appointed as president and COO in 1992. As COO, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of QUALCOMM as it grew to be a Fortune 500 telecom technology and manufacturing company. He left QUALCOMM to head Leap Wireless, which was spun off as an independent company in September 1998. Prior to QUALCOMM, Mr. White was executive vice president, COO and a director of Linkabit Corporation, a firm that spawned many high technology start-ups and established San Diego as a major center for wireless communications. Mr. White also serves on the board of multiple technology companies.
Marsha Chandler, Ph.D
Dr. Marsha A. Chandler is the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of the Salk Institute. She oversees the fiscal and administrative functions of the Institute, provides support to approximately 870 research staff and 230 administrative personnel, and oversees all fund-raising activities. The annual budget of the Institute is approximately $100 million dollars. Dr. Chandler completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) in the Business School at Harvard University in 2004-05, and served as visiting professor at the Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership. She has more than 20 years of successful academic leadership and management experience, having served as Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of California, San Diego, where she was the chief academic officer responsible for the policies and decisions relating to all academic programs and faculty appointments and performance. She served as Acting Chancellor from 2003-04 and holds an appointment as Professor of Political Science in the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at UCSD. A renowned scholar of political economy and comparative public policy, Dr. Chandler is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the highest academic honor bestowed in that country. She is the author of five books and numerous journal articles and book chapters. She served as Dean of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto from 1990-97 - a role in which she was responsible for 30 academic departments on two campuses. A native New Yorker, Dr. Chandler graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and received her doctorate from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Toronto in 2003 and lectured throughout the world while serving as a visiting professor at Harvard's Center for International Affairs.
